TRAVERSE CITY
Traverse City is located at the base of the Leelanau and Old Mission
Peninsulas, overlooking East and West Grand Traverse Bay. From Fife
Lake, Traverse City is a nice place to spend an afternoon or evening.
Some popular attractions include the new ‘Beach Bums’ minor-league
baseball team, Grand Traverse Mall, downtown shopping, many great
restaurants, two movie cinemas, and more. Traverse City is also home of
the National Cherry Festival for a week in July.
MACKINAC
ISLAND
Mackinac Island is just about a two hour drive north, making it a great
place for a day trip from Fife Lake. Mackinac Island is located between
Michigan’s upper and lower peninsula. The island does not have any cars
and you must take a 15 minute ferry ride to reach the island. The best
way to get around the island is by renting or bringing your own bikes,
but there are also many horses and horse carriages. There is a beautiful
bike trail which surrounds the island and many more through the hilly
interior. Mackinac Island is also know for its small shops, historic
fort, fudge, ice-cream, and breathtaking views of the Straits of
Mackinac.
SLEEPING BEAR DUNES
Approximately 40 miles Northwest of Fife Lake, the Sleeping Bear Dunes
National Lakeshore offers spectacular views of Lake Michigan. Whether
hiking or driving, you are sure to enjoy the dunes. Pack a picnic lunch
and spend an afternoon overlooking the water and taking in Northern
Michigan’s beauty!
LEELANAU PENINSULA
The Leelanau Peninsula is home to many small towns, wineries, and shops.
However, even if shopping is not your thing, you will certainly enjoy
the scenic drive from Fife Lake!
OLD MISSION PENINSULA
The Old Mission Peninsula is the smaller of the two peninsulas and home
to many wineries and endless orchards. The drive out the peninsula
affords tremendous views of Grand Traverse Bay, especially around
sunset.
ALL OVER: GOLF!
Northern Michigan is home to many gorgeous golf courses. Fife Lake is
centrally located for teeing off on some of the best in the area!
