FIFE LAKE TOWNSHIP REGULAR BOARD MEETING

September 24, 2009

Meeting called to order with Pledge of Allegiance by Supervisor Joles.

 

Clerk Houts called a meeting of the Election Commission to approve the following Election Board workers; Beverly Meyer, Barbara Meyer, Ellen Kirkpatrick and Connie Spalding.  Motion by Joles, 2nd by Sorrow to approve.  Passed.

 

ROLL CALL:              Present:  Ingersoll, Sommerfield, Joles, Sorrow, Houts

                                    Absent:  None

Motion by Sommerfield, 2nd by Joles to approve minutes with corrections and bills.  Passed

 

Citizens Comments:      Problems with drugs in community.

 

REPORTS:

  1. County Commissioner Inman – absent
  2. Deputy Sommerfield – absent
  3. Fire Chief Gibson gave report, including accident with Fire Truck being transported for repair, Tire fire on Bourne Road; EPA investigating. Ambulance: Demo Cot, increasing personnel possibility.
  4. FLAUA: Sorrow reported meetings going to quarterly.
  5. Planning/Zoning:  Administrator Erickson reported Land Splits, Ag. Building/Garage.  Vehicle Complaints.

 

Motion by Houts, 2nd by Sommerfield to recess regular meeting and open Public Hearing.  Passed.

 

Chair Gifford gave an overview of proposed Zoning Ordinance. 

 

Motion by Houts, 2nd by Sommerfield to return Ordinance to Planning Commission for further clarity.

                                    Nays:   None

Passed.

 

Hearing closed.

 

Motion by Sommerfield, 2nd by Sorrow to reconvene.  Passed

 

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Civic Center South:  Joles explained item “M” regarding taxing with Attorney’s opinion indicating it is a common notation and requires a vote of the people.  Motion by Sommerfield, 2nd by Sorrow to accept Resolution as presented.

Roll Call:          Ayes:    Ingersoll, Sommerfield, Joles, Sorrow, Houts.

                        Nays:   none

Passed.

  1. Cemetery Ordinance:  Houts reported the door on the shed in Walton needs to be replaced and some shrubs removed in both cemeteries.  Perpetual Care language is to be added to the Ordinance. 
  2. Septage Treatment Ordinance Discussion:  Joles presented a Resolution/Ordinance regarding a Misrepresentation of original Agreement.

Motion by Sommerfield, 2nd by Sorrow to direct the clerk to sign same.

                        Nays:   None

Passed.

  1. Evergreen Street: Joles gave overview including meeting with some property owners. Memo attached.  Soliciting an Engineering report.  Property owners will be asked to contribute to cost when prices are known.  The board will not take any action until more information is available.

Board Comments:   Houts reported Deputy Gonyer has tendered her resignation.  She will be missed.
